This movie from The National Film Board was quite interesting for me. This is from the period (circa 1951) when the subway was being built, and the eastern Toronto slums were being torn down. Even discusses and shows the new social housing project, Regent Park being built.
It's pretty quaint, the style of this NFB short, but that was the style of the time. I spotted shots of the El Mocombo in reference to Toronto's busy nightlife. We all know that Toronto the Good basically shut down on Sundays in the past -- So the movie makes reference to it, in a rather humorous way, I thought.
